The technology of a Korean company is used for a pilot project of lung cancer screening in six major European countries.

Corelinesoft, a developer of artificial intelligence (AI)-based medical imaging solutions, announced on the 19th that Corelinesoft’s solutions will be used in a pilot project for lung cancer screening in Europe.

The project is ‘4-In The Lung Run’, a lung cancer screening research project involving six major European countries (UK, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands). First of all, the goal of the project is to establish a network system that connects each hospital, and then start lung cancer screening in early 2021, when the construction is completed, and conduct screenings by 2024.

The lung cancer screening solution used in this project is’AVIEW LCS (Lung Cancer Screening)’, a low-dose chest CT reading support program of CorelineSoft. AVIEW LCS is a solution currently being used by 50 medical institutions, including the National Cancer Center, and has been verified by medical institutions nationwide for three years since 2017. In 2017, Korea conducted a pilot lung cancer screening project under the supervision of the National Cancer Center, and screened those who smoked for more than 30 years with low-dose CT. As a result of the examination, the early diagnosis rate was more than three times that of the pilot project, and the nation-led lung cancer screening project was implemented from 2019.

Coreline Soft said, “This case in which a lung cancer screening solution that has been successfully established in Korea is applied to Europe is another achievement of the Korean screening system.”
