Supporting the Backbone of AI-Driven Lung Cancer Screening
The HANSE Project (Holistic study Assessing a Northern German Interdisciplinary lung cancer Screening Effort) marked a milestone in Germany’s move toward structured lung cancer screening, involving over 5,000 participants, dual reading protocols, and interdisciplinary collaboration under the leadership of Prof. Jens Vogel-Claussen.
While the clinical impact of AI in radiology often takes center stage, the role of robust technical infrastructure and responsive support is equally crucial. At Coreline Soft, our Technical Support Team—comprising six dedicated engineers—ensured that the AVIEW AI platform was seamlessly deployed, integrated, and maintained across all participating German institutions.

Deployment Strategy: From Hybrid Infrastructure to Real-Time Monitoring
To support HANSE’s hybrid architecture (cloud + on-premise), we implemented a technical strategy that included:
Real-time system monitoring to ensure uptime and stability
Routine updates and performance optimizations
Workflow customization for local reporting and 2nd reading protocols
Integration of multi-feature AI solutions including Nodule CAD, Emphysema, Coronary Calcium, Airway Segmentation, and Texture Analysis
We worked closely with hospitals like Hannover Medical School (MHH), University Hospital Lübeck, and Lung Hospital Grosshansdorf through weekly coordination calls to adapt to local requirements and clinical feedback.
Communication Model: Customer-First, Always
Our philosophy during HANSE was simple: listen, adapt, and act fast. Over the course of three years, our team conducted more than 150 video meetings with stakeholders and maintained an always-on communication channel via calls and direct messaging.
To support clinical reliability:
We established a 2-hour initial response window for all incidents
Root cause analysis was performed for every issue, followed by preventive system tuning
Quarterly satisfaction surveys helped guide service enhancements

Readiness for Germany’s National LCS Program
With HANSE completed, Germany has officially launched its national lung cancer screening program. Thanks to our experience with the project, Coreline Soft is now well-positioned to support this country-wide rollout. Our team is equipped to provide:
In-depth understanding of German regulations and pseudonymization policies
Support for localized workflows like Independent 2nd Reading and Conference reporting
Large-scale deployment coordination
24/7 multilingual support with Korean, German, and US-based engineers
Beyond Tech, Enabling Early Detection
The HANSE Project demonstrated that AI’s clinical value depends not only on algorithms, but on the invisible infrastructure that keeps them running. With lessons learned and a proven model of collaboration, Coreline Soft’s Technical Support Team is ready to ensure that AVIEW remains a trusted foundation for early lung cancer detection across Germany.
