Summary

In this study, researchers evaluated the pulmonary vasculature of 30 chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) patients using non-contrast computed tomography (CT) before and after treatment. They correlated CT-based parameters with right heart catheterization (RHC) hemodynamic and clinical parameters. Leveraging the Aview® system (Coreline Soft, Inc.) for lung segmentation and pulmonary vasculature analysis, the researchers found significant increases in the number, area, and density of subpleural small vessels post-treatment. Additionally, blood volume shifted from larger to smaller vessels, and the BV5/TBV ratio correlated with hemodynamic and clinical parameters. The study highlights the effectiveness of non-contrast CT measures, aided by the Aview® software, in evaluating changes in pulmonary vasculature in response to treatment.
